Frequently asked questions

How do I match a website’s password requirements?

Check the website’s allowed length and character types, then choose uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Customize the allowed symbols, exclude unsupported characters, and optionally require a first letter or unique characters. Conflicting rules show an explanation.

How are random passwords generated?

The tool uses cryptographically strong random values from your browser’s Web Crypto API to select and shuffle characters according to your rules. It does not use ordinary random functions. Unsupported browsers stop generation and display an explanation.

Why can a password with mixed characters still be weak?

Simple substitutions in common words, consecutive numbers and repeated patterns remain predictable. The checker covers some common patterns, but cannot identify every name, birthday or breached password. Use unique random passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
